What is EnergyFi
EnergyFi is the coordination layer that connects four things that have never been able to talk to each other directly: physical energy assets, the data proving what they did, the capital that funds them, and the settlement that pays everyone.
The API in these docs is one surface across that whole loop. The same authentication, the same conventions, the same object model, whether you are pushing a meter reading or reconciling a stablecoin distribution.
The four steps
What the API gives you
What EnergyFi is not
It is not a marketplace. Offerings are discoverable through the API, but Arkreen does not match buyers to sellers or make recommendations.
It is not a custodian. Subscriptions settle to your own wallet or to a licensed third-party custodian you select.
It is not a rating agency, and will not become one. data_assurance grades the data. It does not grade the asset. L3 on a plant with a defaulting offtaker is still L3 — an honest record of a bad situation. We publish the inputs; we do not publish a grade. Being both the issuance venue and the rating authority is a conflict the rest of finance already learned to separate, and there is no version of this network where we hold both.
It is not the only party in the chain. Operators, offtakers, SPV administrators, custodians, auditors, and licensed distributors are all still here, and several links cannot close without them. What changes is that what each of them did becomes checkable instead of asserted.
Components in these docs sit at different stages, and they are not interchangeable in a commercial commitment. If your plan depends on an endpoint here, check its label first and talk to us about timing — that is why the labels exist.
